SPECIAL EFFECTS for FILM +TV
Special Effects for Film and TV (SFX) focusses on Creature, character and costume effects using 3D printing, traditional and digital sculpture and engineering (animatronics) along with costume design and fabrication to realise monsters and witches and other assorted beasties. Our students aim (and often succeed) to work in creature departments of the world’s biggest Film and TV shows.

SPECIAL MAKE UP EFFECTS for FILM +TV
Special Make Up Effects for Film and TV (SMUFX) focusses on the production of prosthetic makeup through sculpture, moulding and casting techniques. Wig and Postiche skills are taught to support the overall aesthetic of the makeups produced. These skills are modernised with the introduction of digital sculpture and concepting techniques to enable our graduates to become industry ready hybrid artists.

MODELMAKING EFFECTS for FILM + TV
Modelmaking Effects for Film and TV (MMFX) focusses on the traditional skill of creation with resistant materials and the developing skillsets of the digital modeller to become a brilliantly blended skill mix that is appropriate to a modern modelmaking industry.

The possibilities of pixels are endless with our BSc (Hons) Visual Effects and Animation degree. Focusing on the specialist skills needed to create computer generated and post-production visual effects, we offer industry-experienced staff and fantastic facilities, along with a proven track record of graduate success with award-winning employers.
Visual effects (VFX) and animation is at the heart of creating spectacular imagery for the film, TV, commercial, games, architectural visualisation, automotive, and music video industries. We offer a hands-on experience covering the whole workflow of a digital VFX pipeline. The course is ideal if you wish to combine creativity with digital imagery and animation to create visual effects.
