PICK + MIX
Choose from any of this year’s themes - ‘Festival’ or ‘Sustainability / Health & Wellbeing’ you can enter one or more of the briefs, and the themes can be interpreted in a fairly broad manner.
All entries to be submitted in digital format as .jpg for still image and flat artwork or .mp4 for video and animated pieces. Choose to enter as many categories as you want but, you cannot enter the same piece of work more than once.
VISUAL COMMUNICATION
ANIMATION + ILLUSTRATION
Produce a short 1 minute animation on your smartphone/tablet or, illustrated piece, that conveys a narrative around your chosen theme.
GRAPHIC DESIGN | DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION
Produce an idea for an app that helps people with similar interests using one of the themes. Your final piece should show some final screen mock-ups of your app together with a short explanation of how the final app would work.
LENS BASED MEDIA
FILM + MEDIA
Using a smartphone or tablet, produce a short film of up to 1 minute in length, exploring one of the themes.
Consider innovative lighting and sound to create the atmosphere.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Produce a series of A4 photographic prints capturing the essence of your chosen theme. Consider the aesthetic and composition of your framing. Final prints can be colour or black & white.
DESIGN
FASHION
Produce a fashion design concept collection (minimum of 3 looks). Consider how silhouette and fabric choices communicate your approach to the theme. Concept designs/illustrations must show front, back and side views.
TEXTILES + SURFACE DESIGN
Produce a surface pattern design or a textile material concept for either fashion fabrics / interior fabrics / wallcoverings or homeware. Artwork can be visualised as a concept or produced as a final artefact and photographed. Any textile / surface design medium is acceptable.
APPLIED + FINE ARTS
FINE ART
Produce a final piece of work in any 2D or 3D medium that conveys your interpretation of one of the themes. Carefully consider colour, scale, texture, composition, process and materials for their suitability and effectiveness in communicating your understanding of the chosen theme.
SMUFX
Special Make-up FX
Create a 3D sculpture, or a concept visual, using the festival Ogoh Ogoh as your inspiration – complete the sculptures, take high quality images showing your final sculpture and submit them digitally as a video, slide show, or image.
DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
GAMES
Produce a 1 minute video showing off a small game you have made using Construct3 or similar to interpret your chosen theme .
OR,
Produce a final piece of work in any 2D or 3D digital software (e.g. Photoshop, Blender) that displays your interpretation of one of the themes.
Consider how the colours and materials you use as well as their presentation helps to strengthen the representation of your chosen theme.
